Geospatial Lab (GsL)

The Geospatial Laboratory offers geospatial computing and geo-services, in order to find
geospatial solutions in multidisciplinary research. This laboratory provide Geospatial
Technologies including here map designing and analysis, geospatial data generation,
editing/transformation, remotely sensed data analysis, spatial analysis and geostatistics, and
interactive map design. The Geospatial Lab provides education and support for all geographic
information science at the UBT College. Through the Geospatial Lab, students and faculty
develop a comprehensive understanding of geographic technologies and techniques, including
QuantumGIS, Geomedia Professional, ArcGIS, Grass, Google Earth Engine, web mapping
applications, and remote sensing. The laboratory maintains a number of dedicated computers
loaded with leading industry software. It also provides GIS consultations and project management
for students, staff, faculty, and external parties pursuing independent projects.
Geospatial technology is used in a wide variety of industries, including local and central public
institutions, non-governmental, environmentally focused agencies and organizations,
environmental science, public health and urban planning. The Geospatial Technology, as an
industry, is one of the fastest growing sectors in the modern economy.
